Safe Haven Lighthouse

West Lawn’s Safe Haven Lighthouse program offer diverse activities and resources that encourage individual and group involvement with children in an enjoyable, safe, and relaxed Christian atmosphere.

This is an after-school program on Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-5:30 p.m. The Safe Haven program includes various activities and adventures with a Christian emphasis for K-6th graders.  The program is staffed by WLUMC servants who have a love of children and a desire to serve the Lord by using their talents and gifts in this capacity.

We had a great time on October 26 when Eric and his mother joined us at Safe Haven. Our apple picking and pie making was a success and we were able to bring joy to Eric with our gifts. Eric is a wonderful kid and we were very fortunate to be able to meet him. We hope to stay in contact with him and get to see him again.

In November our kids will be making a dry soup jar to hand out at our local Food Bank. Our kids enjoy doing this kind of service project. We like to remind them of how blessed we are and whenever you can give back to others. This is what Jesus wants us to do.

We will also be making personal care buckets to hand out to our shut ins in December. Hopefully the youth groups will get together again and sing Christmas carols to those shut ins in their homes while delivering the care package.

The beginning of December we will be going Christmas caroling at a local nursing home. The residents look forward to it and so do we! It is always a fun time.
